Pierre Educational Foundation Evening of Excellence

The Pierre Educational Foundation hosts an annual Evening of Excellence to recognize the top scholars of that year’s graduating class. Each of the Scholars of Excellence have achieved a 3.75 grade point average or better through their academic career. The winners of the scholarships awarded by the Pierre Educational Foundation are announced at the event. The Evening of Excellence also recognizes an annual BankWest Educator of Excellence. Educator of Excellence nominations are made by the Scholars of Excellence based on the educator’s impact on the education and lives of the students.

The Evening of Excellence is held annually in early May and is by invite only. Please contact the Pierre Educational Foundation for more information.

The Pierre Educational Foundation hosted its annual Evening of Excellence on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the Ramkota Convention Center. The winner of the 2021 BankWest Educator of Excellence was Teresa Johnson.  Johnson was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the students in the Pierre School District with a $1,500 award sponsored by BankWest.

The 2020 Evening of Excellence was held virtually in May 2020. The Pierre Educational Foundation awarded $17,100 in scholarships to seven graduating seniors of T.F. Riggs.  The winner of the 2020 BankWest Educator of Excellence was Vasthi Gibson, a Spanish teacher at T.F. Riggs High School.  Gibson was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the students in the Pierre School District with a $1,500 continuing education award sponsored by BankWest.
